Overview

Our Random Username Generator creates handles for social media, gaming, forums and apps entirely in your browser. Pick the Pronounceable mode for short, semi-readable names built from alternating consonants and vowels, or the Word-based mode to merge a real word - a noun, verb or adjective - with an optional prefix of your choice.

Set how many usernames you need (1 to 500), choose the length, letter case and whether to append a random number, and the list appears instantly. Every name is produced with your browser's cryptographically secure random source, so nothing is stored on or sent to any server.

How to Use this Tool?

Choose a mode: Select Pronounceable for syllable-style handles or Word-based to combine real words.

Set how many: Enter a number from 1 to 500 in the "How many" box. It starts at 10, which is enough for most sign-up forms.

Pronounceable options: Type an optional "Starts with" prefix (for example neo) and a target Length between 4 and 20 characters. The tool fills the rest with alternating consonants and vowels.

Word-based options: Type an optional "Add Prefix" prefix, choose to Combine with a Noun, Verb or Adjective, and pick a Word joiner (none, hyphen, dot or underscore).

Style and export: Pick a Case style (lowercase, UPPERCASE, Title Case or camelCase), switch on Add number suffix if you want digits like user834, choose a Separator, then click Generate Usernames. Use Copy or Download to save the list, or Clear to start over.

Features and Settings

Mode - Pronounceable: Builds a handle from alternating consonants and vowels, so the result reads almost like a real word - for example vokunari. It looks more natural and is easier to remember than a random letter string, and it is more likely to still be available than a common dictionary word.

Starts with: Forces the generated name to begin with the letters you type (for example neo produces nevaloti). The tool detects whether your prefix ends in a vowel or a consonant and continues the pattern correctly. Leave it blank to start from scratch.

Length: The total target length of each handle, from 4 to 20 characters. If your "Starts with" prefix is already longer than the length, the prefix is used as-is.

Mode - Word-based: Merges a dictionary word with an optional fixed prefix. With "Add Prefix" set to cool and "Combine with" set to Noun, you might get cooltiger. These names are the most readable and brandable, though also the least unique.

Add Prefix: A fixed word placed before the generated word in Word-based mode. It is joined using the Word joiner - for example cool + underscore + tiger gives cool_tiger. Leave it blank to use only the generated word.

Combine with: Chooses the kind of word appended to your prefix - a Noun (tiger, comet), a Verb (run, build) or an Adjective (swift, neon). The tool draws from a built-in list of short, common words between 3 and 6 characters.

Word joiner: Decides how the prefix and the word are joined - None (cooltiger), Hyphen (cool-tiger), Dot (cool.tiger) or Underscore (cool_tiger). Some platforms only allow certain characters, so pick the one your target site accepts.

Case style: lowercases everything, UPPERCASES everything, Title Cases each word (Cool Tiger) or applies camelCase (coolTiger). This is applied after the name is built, so it works in both modes.

Add number suffix: Appends three random digits to every name, such as vokunari482 or cooltiger137. This both personalises the handle and guarantees that a large batch never contains a duplicate.

Separator: Controls how the generated names are joined in the output - new line (one per row, best for spreadsheets), comma, space or comma + space.

No duplicates: Every name in a single run is checked against the others, so the same handle never appears twice in one click. This is what lets the tool safely generate up to 500 unique usernames at once.

FAQs

FAQ 1: Is this random username generator free to use?
Answer: Yes, it is completely free with no sign-up or login, and there is no limit on how many times you can use it.

FAQ 2: Which mode should I pick?
Answer: Use Pronounceable when you want a short, memorable handle that still looks unique - good for gaming tags and social media. Use Word-based when you want something clearly readable and brandable, like swiftwolf or cool-cat.

FAQ 3: Why would I add a number suffix?
Answer: Many short usernames are already taken. Appending a few random digits (for example neonfox713) makes the handle far more likely to be available, and it also guarantees that a large batch contains no duplicates.

FAQ 4: Are my generated usernames stored or sent anywhere?
Answer: No. Everything is generated locally on your device using cryptographically secure randomness, and nothing is transmitted to, or saved on, any server.

FAQ 5: Can I control the letter case?
Answer: Yes. The Case style setting lets you output lowercase, UPPERCASE, Title Case (Cool Tiger) or camelCase (coolTiger), and it applies to both generation modes.

FAQ 6: What is the maximum number of usernames I can generate?
Answer: Each click generates up to 500 unique usernames. If you need more, simply press "Generate Usernames" again - each run produces a fresh, non-repeating batch.
