FAQ 1: What does this tool do?
Answer: It removes accents and diacritical marks from letters and converts them to their plain Latin equivalents. For example, "café" becomes "cafe" and "ñ" becomes "n".
FAQ 2: Which characters does it handle?
Answer: It removes common accents (acute, grave, circumflex, tilde, diaeresis/umlaut, cedilla and more) from letters, and also converts special letters such as ø (→ o), æ (→ ae), ß (→ ss), ð (→ d) and &lslash; (→ l).
FAQ 3: Is my text sent to a server?
Answer: No. The accent removal happens entirely in your browser on your own device, and nothing you enter is transmitted to, or stored on, any server.
FAQ 4: Does it change numbers, punctuation or letter case?
Answer: No. Only accents on letters are removed. Letter case, numbers, punctuation, spaces and line breaks stay exactly as you entered them, so "ÉLAN" becomes "ELAN", not "elan".
FAQ 5: Can I process a whole file?
Answer: Yes. Use the "Upload a file" option to load a plain text file into the Input textarea, remove the accents, and then download the result using the Download link.
FAQ 6: What happens if my text has no accents?
Answer: The Output will be identical to the Input, and the result message will tell you that no accents were found in the text.
