Overview

The "Join Text" tool is a free utility that merges the separate lines of your text into a single continuous string, connecting each line with a character you choose - a space by default. Paste in a column of words or a bullet list and get back one clean line, ready to copy, download, or paste wherever you need it.

Two cleanup switches sit in the options: Delete blank lines and Delete trailing spaces, both on by default, so stray empty lines and ragged spacing never spoil the joined result. Leave the join character empty to remove the line breaks completely.

Everything runs locally in your browser, so your text never leaves your device and nothing is ever uploaded or stored. The tool is free to use, needs no account, and works on any device with a modern browser.

How to Use This Tool

1. Add your text: Paste or type it into the "Input" field, click "Upload a file" to load a text file, or use "Load an example" to try a sample.

2. Set the join character: The field is pre-set to a space; type any other character or string (such as ", " for a comma list) to connect the lines with it. An empty field joins the lines with no character at all.

3. Adjust the cleanup options: "Delete blank lines" and "Delete trailing spaces" are both on by default and can be switched off if you want to keep the gaps.

4. Join the text: Click the "Join Text" button. The merged line appears in the "Output" field with a message showing how many lines were joined. Copy or download the result, and use "Clear & Reset" to start over.

1. Turn a grocery list into one line

A multi-line list with blank lines and ragged trailing spaces becomes one clean line with the default space joiner.

3. Make a comma-separated list

Any custom separator works - here the lines are joined with ' | ' for a compact pipe-separated string.

Features & Options

Input & Output: The "Input" textarea is where you type, paste or upload your text. The joined result is shown in the "Output" textarea, ready to copy or download.

Join character (default: a space): The character placed between each pair of lines. The lines "sun", "moon" and "stars" joined with a space become "sun moon stars". Leave the field empty to join with nothing - the lines "T", "e", "x" and "t" become "Text".

Delete blank lines (on by default): Removes lines that contain no text before joining. Joining "sun", a blank line, "moon" and "stars" with a space gives "sun moon stars" with this switch on, but "sun moon stars" with it off - the blank line leaves an extra gap.

Delete trailing spaces (on by default): Removes the spaces and tabs at the end of every line before joining. Joining "sun ", "moon" and "stars" with a space gives "sun moon stars" with this switch on, but "sun moon stars" with it off.

Upload a file: Reads a text file from your device into the "Input" field - handy for joining saved files.

Copy & Download: "Copy" puts the output on your clipboard for pasting elsewhere; "Download" saves it as a text file.

Join Text button: The central action - it joins the input lines using the chosen character and cleanup options and writes the result to the "Output" field.

Clear & Reset: Clears both textareas and resets the tool to its initial state.

FAQs

FAQ 1: How is this different from "Remove Line Breaks"?
Answer: "Remove Line Breaks" collapses runs of extra line breaks into a single break, so the line structure of your text is kept. This tool instead merges every line into one single string, connected by the character you choose.

FAQ 2: How do I join lines into a comma-separated list?
Answer: Type ", " (a comma followed by a space) into the join character field. The lines "coffee", "tea" and "juice" then become "coffee, tea, juice".

FAQ 3: Why does my output contain double spaces between words?
Answer: Double or extra spaces appear when blank lines are joined as empty pieces, or when lines carry trailing spaces. Both cleanup switches are on by default and remove these gaps; turn them off and the gaps will stay.

FAQ 4: Can I remove all line breaks completely?
Answer: Yes. Clear the join character field so it is empty, and the lines are joined with nothing between them - "T", "e", "x" and "t" become "Text".

FAQ 5: Does this tool change my original text?
Answer: No. The "Input" field is never modified; only the copy in the "Output" field reflects the joining character and cleanup options you chose.
